Who can you lean on, or lift up this week?

My Wednesday Wish for You: To Feel the Power of Your People

There’s an African proverb that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” I’ve seen that truth show up time and again in leadership, in life, and especially in those moments when the spark of motivation flickers out.

In weightlifting, there’s a concept called momentary muscle failure when your muscles give out under strain. It’s not weakness; it’s where strength begins. The breakdown is what allows the rebuild. The same is true with our motivation.

We all hit that point—call it burnout, discouragement, apathy—when we just can’t lift anymore. That’s when we need our people. Those who can step in and help us carry the weight. Who remind us of what we’ve done, what we’re capable of, and what still matters. Who lend us their energy and perspective until we find our own again.

Sometimes, you’ll be that person for someone else. Sometimes, you’ll be the one in need. Both are powerful.

Don’t underestimate the strength of reaching out. Of saying, “I need help.” Or offering, “I’ve got you.” It’s not weakness to fall short of motivation—it’s human. The rebuild that comes next builds your resolve. It reinforces your capacity. It prepares you for the next challenge.

Momentary motivation failure is not the end. It’s a turning point. And with the power of your people, it can be the beginning of a stronger, more resilient you.

Who can you lean on—or lift up—this week?
