To own your power
My Wednesday Wish for You: To Own Your Power
Power is an interesting thing. We all have it—whether or not we realize it. We can use it. We can give it away. Or we can go about our lives unaware that we ever had it to begin with.
What’s fascinating is this: power is perception.
If you think you have power, you do.
If you don’t think you have power, you don’t.
It’s not about your title or your corner office. Research shows that how powerful you feel matters more than your official position. That internal sense of power drives your behavior.
When you believe you have power, you see possibilities. You take more risks, speak up with new ideas, and walk through the world with an abundance mindset. You think expansively.
But when you believe you don’t have power, you focus on avoiding loss. You play it safe, worry more, and protect what little you think you have. That’s a scarcity mindset. It causes you to shrink.
The good news? Just like negative emotions can spiral downward, positive ones can spiral upward. Psychologists call this “broaden and build.” When we experience positive emotions, we broaden our thinking and build inner resources. It’s like storing emotional capital we can draw on in future moments.
So this week, ask yourself: What helps me feel powerful? What relationships, habits, or environments broaden my sense of agency?
How can I build that positive mindset now, so I can tap into it when I need it?
My Wednesday wish for you is that you notice the power you already have—and that you use it with purpose and courage.
