How are you wielding your power?

My Wednesday Wish for You: Mind Your Power

Power is a tricky thing. When we have it—whether through position,  influence, or sheer force of personality—it can be intoxicating. We find ourselves strategizing ways to gain more, solidify our standing, and minimize anything that threatens our control. Risks seem smaller because we believe we can handle them. Problems feel solvable because we hold the reins.

On the flip side, when we feel powerless, every risk looms large. We hesitate, shrink back, and second-guess ourselves. Rather than stepping into opportunities, we yield them to others who seem more confident, more in control. And so, the cycle continues—those with  power keep it, those without it remain on the sidelines.

This week, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your relationship with power. How are you showing up? Are you bringing your best self into the spaces you occupy? Are you engaging in ways that lift others up, or are you unconsciously hoarding influence? Are you playing small when you have more to contribute?

Power isn’t inherently good or bad—it’s how we wield it that matters. What would it look like to step into the power you have with courage and integrity? Or to share the power you hold so that others can rise?

My wish for you this week is awareness. Notice the power plays—your own and those around you. And, as best you can, play fair.
