Fill your own tank first
My Wednesday Wish for You: A Full Tank
We’ve all heard it before: You can’t pour from an empty cup. But have you ever stopped to really consider what that means for you? If you don’t possess compassion for yourself, it’s hard to truly extend it to others. If you don’t allow yourself grace, your ability to authentically offer it diminishes. And if you don’t support yourself—emotionally, mentally, or even physically—how can you effectively support anyone else?
The same is true with challenge. If you’re not stretching yourself, pushing beyond comfort zones, or holding yourself to higher standards, how can you expect to challenge others? Leadership, care, and generosity must come from a place of abundance, not depletion.
So, I ask you: What are you withholding from yourself? Is it permission to embrace your own power? The grace to make mistakes and learn from them? The belief that you deserve the same support you so willingly give to others?
This week, I invite you to practice filling your own tank first. Maybe that means setting boundaries, making space for rest, or speaking to yourself with kindness. Maybe it’s investing in your own growth or simply acknowledging your own worth. Then, see what’s possible next week when you operate from a place of fullness rather than scarcity.
After all, there’s a reason they tell us to put our oxygen masks on first.
My wish for you is a full tank—so full that you can joyfully give some of it away.
